We have released many titles on mobile phone platforms, mainly the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, with over 7 million downloads on the Google Play Store alone. My responsibilities involve publishing, co-management, marketing, game development, level design, developing for multiple platforms, play testing, user interface, GUI, concept art, 3D modelling and Sound assets. I have mainly worked in Unity 3D but also have experience with the Unreal engine and would have no qualms with using whatever tool best suits the task at hand.

Employment History

Junior Unity Developer                        VirtualSpeech                                          Nov 2022/Now

I am currently working for VirtualSpeech as a Junior Unity Developer and have had a significant role in app development. I mainly focus on the development of the virtual avatars which are enhanced by AI using ChatGPT. The avatars themselves are made with Blender and Character Creator 4. They are imported into Unity and are supported by various plug ins and animations to make them act realistically.

I have also worked on developing courses such as the DE&I in the app using unity based only on a script! My role also involves helping with the workshops that VirtualSpeech provides to its customers which helps me keep my public speaking skills sharp.

Learning Technologist                            University Centre Grimsby                          Sept 2020/Now

My current role as a learning technologist (In the Innovate department) requires me to be adept at quickly familiarising myself with cutting edge technology and software in order to teach others on its best uses and worth. This entails preparing and presenting sessions to teaching and support staff.

Our department recently held a digital event in Microsoft Teams that not only had the participation of the organisation but also hundreds of guests, hosting sessions of my own on my first day in this role, which I believe is evidence of my ability to step up to a challenge when required.

I am in charge of the departments virtual reality equipment, I have already created a virtual Grimsby Institute that can be navigated through (Including virtual classrooms with working projectors to display teaching content). The aim of this is to revolutionise the learning at home experience which is only becoming more and more important due to Coronavirus.

This role also requires me to be on top of my training meaning I am a Microsoft Innovative Educator (MIE) and have also now achieved my Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert.

ICT Technician                                         University Centre Grimsby                     Jan 2020/Aug 2020

After working as an assistant for over a year a position opened up for the full ICT Technician role, I applied and successfully attained the job, I started in January. This role involved less time on the Helpdesk and more time out and about dealing with class in progresses and exam issues.

My proudest achievement while working in this role is how me and the IT team prepared for the implications of Covid 19 especially in regards to working from home. We spent weeks leading up to the situation preparing hundreds of laptops for both staff and students as well as setting staff up with our Cisco Jabber system allowing them to still make and receive calls from home.

Me and the team stayed behind making sure every member of staff was fully prepared, we sanitised and cleaned all of the devices, provided any extra equipment required, delivered training on how best to work from home and maintained a positive attitude throughout. This two week period preparing and providing equipment was the hardest I have worked but it was worth it to keep teachers teaching and the university running.

Assistant ICT Technician                            University Centre Grimsby                  Nov 2018/ Dec 2019

On the Helpdesk I deal with customer queries consisting of active directory user issues, office 365 queries and specialist software. I also assist ICT technicians with trouble-shooting issues while solving allot of problems myself remotely using RDP. When I am not on the Helpdesk I am setting up equipment, installing new software/hardware, imaging, repairing workstations and solving/diagnosing networking problems using the Meraki dashboard.  This role also requires me to assign jobs to available 1st 2nd and 3rd line technicians depending on urgency, complexity and the nature of the issue in question.

Working at the Helpdesk I support both staff and students with any difficulties they may encounter involving technology or software, this means that I spend a good portion of time educating users on the proper use of tools that are available to them. During my time manning the IT Helpdesk I have successfully resolved issues that involved dealing with frustrated individuals, I do this by approaching the situation with a kind and open attitude while acknowledging that everyone has a different level of technological understanding.

During my time on the Helpdesk I have also proposed, developed, presented and released a new laptop trolley booking system. This new system has not only optimized the process of booking by making conflicting bookings a thing of the past, it has also proven to be incredibly user friendly and has led to the service being utilized like never before.

Self Employed IT Technician                          Posh Toffee Tech                               Oct 2014/ Nov 2015

Finding work, engaging with customers, pricing jobs, problem solving, PC / Laptop Repair and compiling my business accounts. This required motivation, self-discipline, time management and interpersonal skills.

Trainee IT Engineer                                   BG Energy Solutions                              July 2014/Oct 2014

Working at BG Energy Solutions taught me how to operate well and stay cool under pressure, dealing with issues such as server problems and remotely connecting off site to help clients with multiple issues.

ST-ART Volunteer                         Ropewalk Apprenticeship Program                   Jan 2013/Dec 2013

My work on the Ropewalks’ Artist Apprenticeship scheme involved helping children with creative projects which helped me to relate to children, which has given me a certain insight into how to interact with their play, as well as granting me great social skills.

Framer                                                        Ropewalk Art Gallery                             July 2012/Aug 2012

My time framing at the ropewalk art gallery taught me about composition and aesthetics and importantly, to measure twice and cut once- working with discipline and precision are now key skills which I use every day.

Server Administrator                                    Machine Networks                                 July 2011/Aug 2011

I learned office skills at machine networks and found that I was able to maintain focus for long periods on even the most troublesome of tasks e.g. search engine optimisation!

Commissions

Public sculpture ‘Our Family’ commissioned by Immingham Town Council in 2011. A seven foot abstract figurative sculpture, in mild steel, depicting a family to represent community. I designed, negotiated, developed and created this sculpture alongside my art BTEC, using practical welding and metalworking skills learned from my sculptor father. It now stands as Immingham’s first public sculpture for twenty five years and is a much loved feature of the town.

Interests/Additional Information

For several years one of my hobbies has been computing, this has tied nicely with my course and lead me to develop additional skills such as computer repair and the ability to create my own gaming and work machine to my own specifications. It also gave me the skills to troubleshoot and solve problems efficiently.

My work is also my passion and as mentioned I am a partner in a games design company that has so far been very successful and well managed. As you can see I dedicate my all, even to my hobbies and interests.

I have also recently been diagnosed with Autism so would enjoy a workplace that can assist me with any specific requirements.

I also hold a full clean driving license and am willing to travel.

I am also up to date on all of my COVID vaccines.
